Numerical Ability
Exam-focused revision notes on Numerical Ability for CSIR-NET Chemical Sciences, GATE Chemistry and IIT-JAM — the core concepts, the formulas worth memorising, the traps that cost marks, and a quick-recall table.
What Part A is actually worth
Twenty questions are set, you attempt any fifteen, each carries 2 marks, and a wrong answer costs 0.5. That is 30 marks — more than most candidates lose anywhere else, and the only section where the mathematics is easy enough to finish. The skill being tested is speed with ordinary arithmetic, not cleverness.
