The last month before CSIR-NET Chemical Sciences is won by consolidation, not cramming new topics. Your goal now is to make what you already know faster and more reliable, fix recurring mistakes, and build exam temperament. Here is a realistic 4-week plan.
Week 1 — Lock in high-yield topics
Revise the topics that carry the most marks and that you can still improve: reaction mechanisms and named reactions (Organic), coordination chemistry, periodic trends and main-group (Inorganic), and thermodynamics, kinetics and quantum (Physical). Make one-page summary sheets you can re-read in minutes.
Week 2 — Problem-solving & Part C
Shift from reading to solving. Part C (and the harder Part B questions) decide ranks, so practise application-style problems daily. Time yourself. Keep an error log of every question you get wrong and the reason — concept gap, silly mistake, or misreading.
Week 3 — Full-length timed mocks
Take full-length mocks under exam conditions (180 minutes), then spend as long analysing them as taking them. Track Part A (aptitude) accuracy too — it is the easiest place to gain marks and the most ignored.
Week 4 — Revise notes, weak areas & temperament
No new topics. Re-read your summary sheets and error log, redo previously-wrong questions, and rehearse your in-exam strategy: which sections to attempt first, how many to attempt given negative marking, and when to skip. Sleep and routine matter now.
Daily structure that works
- 1–2 focused revision blocks (summary sheets + a few worked examples)
- 1 problem-solving / PYQ set with timing
- 15 minutes reviewing your error log
What NOT to do in the last month
- Start a brand-new reference book or topic from scratch
- Skip Part A aptitude (free, high-accuracy marks)
- Take mocks without analysing them
- Compare your mock scores obsessively — trend matters more than any single score
